We strive to ensure that you will receive a personalised and tailored service. Our team and their expertise is what makes Netstar. With that in mind, it makes sense to reveal the personal side of our engineers.

This month it’s a relatively new member of our Change and Request team, Joshua Pearson – Second Line Service Engineer.

Joshua Pearson

How did you get where you are today?

Got a UK passport through my father, jumped on a plane and moved over here. I started out in IT when I first got out of high school, then swapped over to bartending while I studied Journalism in Australia, but got back into IT when I moved to the UK in 2006

Who do you most admire and why?

Neil DeGrasse Tyson, for being an Astrophysicist and director of the Hayden Planetarium in New York. Daryn Cresswell for the Sydney Swans, for slapping his kneecap back into place on the field of play and continuing to play the game. He has since developed knee problems…

What aspect of your job do you find most satisfying?

Closing a troublesome ticket that I’ve had to work on for a while. It’s a great release. Also, the coffee.

What has been your most valuable lesson learnt?

Always get back up and try again after you fail at something. Failure is inevitable, quitting is a choice.

What two things in business could you not live without?

Capitalism and International Free Trade Agreements. Yeah, that’s the answer I’m going with.

What are your favourite websites and blogs?

The Science section of Reddit, and RIGB.org - the Royal Institution of Science.

How do you spend your free time?

Learning how to make video games, and playing Aussie Rules for the Wandsworth Demons.
